Hot Cocoa Mix | Homemade Holiday Gifts

Hot Cocoa Mix
This is my favorite Hot Cocoa Mix recipe, it’s easy and only has a few ingredients. It is perfect as a Homemade Holiday or Teacher Gift.

Susannah – I have a first b’day party to plan for my December baby. Do you have any tips for winter birthday parties in a smallish house?

I love to do “Russian Tea” (spice tea) for our Aunts. It is super easy and tastes wonderful. I grew up drinking it in the winter.

I also have done homemade chex mix and homemade chocolate covered cherries.

Angela – My friend just did a frugal pirate party for her son who turned 3 in the middle /end of november (21st i think!?)

I took my daughter (2nd birthday) to Chik-fil-a to play in the play place and we had her party there. They don’t require you to pay for a party and only ask that you and/or your guests purchase some food since you are taking up their tables. (I bought chicken nuggets and lots of adults bought milk shakes or chicken sandwiches and I took up like 5 tables LOL)

Family Fun magazine has a lot of great ideas: http://familyfun.go.com/parties/

I am planning to make Candy Cane Bath Salts as teacher gifts and as hostess gifts. I found the recipe at Organized Christmas (http://christmas.organizedhome.com/recipes/gifts-in-a-jar/candy-cane-bath-salts). They should only cost about $15.0 each!

    That should be $1.50! (OOPS! 🙂 )

Kelly, where did you get the canisters for the Hot Cocoa mix? Do you know any place to get them cheap now?

Jennifer, the glass jars were courtesy of Glade, and the small plastic canisters with the red tops were from the Dollar Store. I tried Big Lots but they were close to $4 each!

This isn’t baking-related, but it is a homemade holiday gift. Lowe’s throws away all of their excess tree trimmings at the end of the day, and will give them to you if you ask. You can make beautiful wreaths & garlands for friends, and use the rest to decorate your house with!

Ansley, are you in the Nashville area? Which Lowes do you get these at?

Yes, we went to the Lowe’s on Charlotte Pike next to Walmart.

Even using a blender to blend the tea and spices some were still undissolved at the bottom of our cups. Any help would be appreciated as this is the BEST…
