      Grilling on a Budget

      1. Marinade while Freezing Meats – Look for meats on sale, and pour marinade in before you freeze them.
      2. Use Seasonal Veggies – Use seasonal vegetables that are on sale as your veggie staple and marinade them.  Or, start a garden and grill veggies like, peppers, zucchini and squash.
      3. Utilize Kabobs – Kabobs are a great inexpensive way to entertain.  You can use less meat and more inexpensive veggies to create a full plate.
      4. Marinades – Make your own (see mine below), or follow seasonal sales on marinades and salad dressings to stockpile.    TIP:  Use Italian Dressing as a marinade on anything – usually FREE w/ sales and coupons!
      5. Charcoal Sales – Look for end of season deals on charcoal to stock up on for next year.
      6. Stockpile Buns – Look for sales on hamburger and hot dog buns and freeze to use when you cookout!

      All-Purpose Greek Marinade

      1/3 cup olive oil
      2 lemons, juiced
      2 garlic cloves, minced
1 Tbs. dried oregano leaves (or 2 Tbs fresh)
1 Tbs. dried thyme or basil (or 2 Tbs. fresh)
      1/2 tsp. salt
      1/2 tsp. pepper

      • Mix all ingredients and use to marinate beef, lamb, chicken or veggies.

** I love this marinade on summer veggies like tomotos, squashes, mushrooms and peppers.
