It’s OFFICIAL!!!! Our Adoption Fundraiser has begun and we are trying to raise money to bring our sweet baby home this summer. For a while now, my husband (and even our children) have felt our family was not complete. We followed where God led us and it has put us at a beautiful season of a domestic/U.S. adoption of an infant. (You can read all about our adoption journey HERE.)
Over the last few years, God has brought many wonderful opportunities our way, including a trip to Ecuador with Operation Christmas Child to hand out shoe boxes and meeting our Compassion Child in Nicaragua. These experiences impressed upon me the importance of caring for the orphan and the needy… all of God’s children. He just kept putting that message before us until we couldn’t do anything else but say “yes”!
What is Both Hands Foundation?
In an effort to bring our baby home, we will be raising money. There are so many great ways to fund-raise these days. One ministry in particular called Both Hands Foundation caught our attention. Both Hands has a very unique purpose: to bring home the orphan by serving the widow. Pretty cool, huh?
Both Hands Mission Statement
Both Hands mission is “to serve widows, orphans, and adoptive families.” Our purpose is to help people raise funds for orphans while serving widows through home improvement projects.
There are 160+ million orphans in the world and while we can’t change the world, we can make a world of difference to some. One of the main reasons people don’t proceed with the adoption process is because of the huge price tag, often times between $15,000-$30,000. Our vision is that there will be Both Hands projects happening every weekend, in every state in the US.
For our fundraising project, our team is going to make repairs and necessary improvements on a widow’s home. Both Hands Foundation raises funds in the same fashion as hosting a 5K or golf tournament. Supporters will be sponsoring our work instead of a 5K or golf tournament.
Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. ~ James 1:27 NLT
Meet Ms. Betty
Meet Ms. Betty. Our team of volunteers will be working on her home very soon. We have had the privilege to visit Ms. Betty and her grandson at their home several times, and are so excited to be able to serve them in this way!
I promised in my last post that I would let you know how you and your family can get involved. I would be honored to have my readers be a part of this journey with our family – a way for you to answer our Father’s call to care for orphans and widows. I truly believe that everyone has a part to play.
He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. ~ Ephesians 4:16 NLT
Our adoption is going to cost in the ballpark of $40,000, and Bradford and I know that together we all can raise a lot more than that! Donated funds in excess of what we need for our adoption will go to other Both Hands families.
CHALLENGE: Would you please donate $5 to help our family provide a forever home to a child…and then help so many more? By clicking on the Donate button below, you can be a part of our journey in caring for orphans and widows.
Thank you so much for all your encouragement!!
