Have you wished you could add more creative thinking and elements to your homeschool day…easily? Well, I think I have found it, and not only do I love it, but the kids love it! Last month, the kids started following along with a program called the TinkerSketch Challenge by Tinker Lab. It started as just a way to keep them occupied during all the extra time at home during the snow days a few weeks ago (we didn’t leave the house for over a week!). But it turned into a creative time that my kids looked forward to each day!
What is TinkerSketch Challenge?
We will be joining the March TinkerSketch Challenge. Basically, all you do is checkout the creative thinking prompt for the day. See the image above? It lays it all out for you for the whole month of March. The key is to take the prompt and make it your own. At this point my kids usually just copy the prompt we find in the #TinkerSketch hashtag on Instagram. But, as their confidence grows they have started branching out on their own and it is really fun to watch.
What do we need to get started?
All you need to get started is a spiral bound art journal, we use one like this 5.5 x 8.5 size spiral bound sketch paper pad here, but I really like this Strathmore Visual 5.5 x 8.5 Journal and we might try that next time! Then, we just use whatever art supplies we have on hand, like kid’s water color paints, colored pencil set, fine tip or bold tip Sharpies, anything works really.
How to join #TinkerSketch?
All you need to do is follow Tinkerlab on Instagram and/or follow the #TinkerSketch hashtag on Instagram to see what others are doing daily. Don’t forget to submit your own art!
*While you are there, be sure to follow Faithful Provisions on Instagram!
