I am preparing my articles for my Healthy Living on a Budget series to start in the next two weeks. While doing so, I would like to take the opportunity to try and answer some of your burning questions. So, please leave them below and I will try to answer them, or have an expert do it for me!
I can’t wait to see what you want to know!
with your move towards healthier eating and more natural eating have you also moved toward more natural cleaners?….for example I’ve been looking into wood floor cleaners and looking at some home made recipes using vinegar to clean my wood floors instead of the more expensive and probably not as good for us – store bought cleaners? sometimes i find store bought stuff to keep on hand is good b/c i just don’t have time to make something from ‘scratch’ but when i can mix up a batch i think the home made cleaner will be cheaper and ‘safer’ in the long run
my previous question leads me to my next question is the natural and healthier eating taking you longer to prepare? do you find yourself spending more time in the kitchen than you did before? Also, now that you’ve had some more time for your family to adjust to more of the healthier eating have you noticed any changes in your kids or you and your husband? i.e. kids behavior or their ability to focus pay attention to things – any positive side affects out of it you didn’t expect? has the immediate trade off been worth it beyond the obvious long term health benefits?
Since striving to eat healthier over the last few months, I’m finding my coupon usage dramatically dropping. I don’t mind spending a little more at the store for the sake of my family’s health, but do you find couponing to still be ‘worth it’? It seems that so many of them are for processed foods that we just don’t eat any more and I’m starting to really wonder if it’s worth my time to go through them all to find the few good ones. What are you doing and do you recommend?
How oh how did you start cutting out white sugar? I am finding that it is one, much more difficult than I thought, and two more of an addiction than I realized. I’d love to hear how you did it.
I plan for my children to brown bag their lunches this school year. I would love some healthier suggestions for this school year. Cost effective is the key since the school lunch plan is averaging $50 per child per month.
I have reached the magical age of 51 and have always dieted, worked out, and then pigged out. I’m not overweight but I have noticed it’s harder to take those extra 5 pounds off. I would love to eat healthier and have more options for this stage in life. Thanks for any insight.
I may have posted this the first time around you asked, but I cant remember… if its a duplicate, sorry!
I am SUPER interested in your new grain mill. I would love to learn about the ENTIRE process. I dont know alot about it and find conflicting info else where on the web. I would love to hear 1. how you like your mill (which so far seems to be good) 2. what type of wheat berries do you use for what and why 3. how does the grinding process work? 4. what about soaking? do you soak before grinding or only if you plan to use the berry whole in a recipe? 5. how do you choose the setting (like coarse or fine) for what you are preparing? 6. do you still mix white and wheat flour or do you find that the home milled white wheat berries are a mild flavor? 7. anything else we need to know!
sorry for the long list, but I am SUPER interested and very excited to hear about your personal experience in the process. I have learned alot from you about slowly integrating healthy options into my families diet so THANK YOU!
Rachel – I have this on the list already even with a video on how to bake your own bread! I will be starting to write this soon and it should be up in the next 4 weeks, maybe sooner! Thanks so much!
