Saving Money with Walgreens Store Brands

I have often talked about the value of meal planning and stocking ahead when it comes to food items. Today I want to talk about another area that is loaded with opportunities for big savings: Medicinal planning and stocking ahead with first-aid items.

Let’s face it: Kids (and adults) are going to get sick. Who wants to have to run to the store for items like fever reducer, antihistamine, or cough syrup? Besides the inconvenience of having to go out for what you need (and possibly having to drag a sick child out with you), odds are it’s not going to be on sale, and you probably won’t have a coupon available. A well-stocked medicine cabinet means you have what you need, and you purchased those items when they were on sale and you did have a coupon. Medicinal planning, like meal planning, means you are saving money because you planned ahead.

One thing I really appreciate about Walgreens is that they have their own great store brands for all the medicines I like to have on hand for my family’s needs: ibuprofen, acetaminophen, and decongestants, just to name a few. Walgreens’ brand is always less expensive than name brands like Tylenol and Benedryl. Another plus is that the purchase of every Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products supports bringing preventive wellness services to local communities through the Walgreens Way to Well Fund™.

But I love that they will often do a BOGOF sale on their brand (a great way to stock up!). Many times there are Instant Value Coupons for the Walgreens brand included in their monthly coupon books. (And you can always use your Walgreens’ Register Rewards for even more savings!)
