My Weekly Meal Plan
We almost finished up our CSA box this week, I still have a little kale, arugula and a few strawberries left. So, I will probably be making a trip to the store to stock up on in-season produce and weekly staples. This warm weather has brought on LOTS of grilling, even vegetables to go over our salads. And this week will continue the same. I hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day, be sure to get some rest!
Sunday: Pool Food and a family cookout (i’m bringing my Garlicky Kale Salad)
Monday: Carne Asada with corn tortillas, fresh salsa and guacamole
Tuesday: Grilled Vegetable Salad with Lemon Parmesan vinaigrette (coming this week)
Wednesday: Black Bean Enchiladas, garden salad
*Using leftover beef from carne asada on Monday.
Thursday: Tomato Covered Minute Steak
*I”ll make sandwiches out of the leftovers for lunch the next day, think meatball sandwich!
Friday: Pizza Night! Homemade Pizza Dough with Homemade Pizza Sauce
*Top with whatever is left in fridge, my new favorite is fresh chopped spinach, sliced tomatoes, green olives, peperocinis and artichokes.

Hi.
I plan on making some of your recipes this week! I noticed you listed ‘nutritional yeast’ and ‘amino acids’ as ingredients. I am some what concerned with the MSG in these products after doing some research into them. I am interested in your take on this.
I do love your recipes and value your opinion on this.
Thanks..
Ive studied this in my health coaching program. Here’s what I understand of the issue. Commercial brands of nutritional yeast generally contain high levels of MSG. We should purchase nutritional yeast that starts with a non-GMO strain and is processed at low temperatures without chemicals. It’s generally light yellow in color and dissolves easily. You can ask at your health food store or Whole Foods about their nutritoinal yeast. Nutritional yeast is very different from Brewer’s yeast or other yeast extracts that are added as flavorings in processed foods. I consider Dr. Andrew Weil a trusted resources and he uses high quality nutriotnal yeast in his recipes.
In a high quality liquid amino like Bragg’s, there is no added MSG. However, MSG is naturally occuring in many foods like mushrooms, tomatoes and soybeans. There is a difference between added MSG and naturally occuring MSG. Most people who are sensitive to MSG can eat things like Bragg’s without having any adverse reaction.
It’s not cut and dry. If someone has a sensitivity to MSG then they may want to avoid foods with naturally occuring MSG, but this is very different from avoiding foods with added MSG, which everyone should do. Each individual needs to make that decision.
Hope that helps clear it up a little.
Calie – Thanks so much! So glad to hear it from an expert!!
