Recipe for Strawberry Smoothie with Oatmeal

Recipe for Strawberry Smoothie with OatmealThis is a variation my favorite recipe for strawberry smoothie because it has the added health benefits of oatmeal. Besides its unique nutty flavor, when you add the oatmeal you get extra fiber, which is said to lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease.

Like all fresh strawberry recipes, a smoothie always sounds good to me! We love them for breakfast, but they fit perfectly into a busy afternoon as well. I always have oatmeal on hand, so it’s easy to just add it in to my smoothie. It makes for a thicker consistency,  and really, a creamier texture. My kids love these smoothies, and I love that we are all enjoying the nutritional value of oatmeal and fresh strawberries.

I think it depends on the person, but it has never bothered me. One option is to soak your oats in yogurt, kefir or buttermilk to soften them up before you put them into the smoothie. Thanks for thinking of that!

How much does this yield? It would be nice to know how many servings this makes so you can cut it in half if you need to. Smoothies always yield way toooooo much for one serving. Nonetheless I will try it this morning, with one substitute Plain Greek Yogurt instead of the milk. THANKS, for the idea of adding the oatmeal.

I can usually get about 4 regular servings (8 oz) or 2 large servings (16 oz)

The smoothie sounds good. I think I will try it. I never put oatmeal in my smoothies, but I bet it makes it thicker and creamier and it also adds extra fiber. I love strawberries and bananas. They are my favorite fruits. Blessings, Deborah H. Bateman-Author
