It helps to keep a routine. We start at the same time every day and the order of subjects is usually the same too.

I don’t homeschool, but would love to enter this giveaway as I very much enjoy being organized. My daughter who is a pre-professional ballet dancer has a very busy schedule and I would love to use this organizational tool to plan her year of performances accordingly. Thanks for sharing!

Homeschool tip-Don’t worry so much about checking things off and moving fast in your schooling. Working slowly and deliberately, with strong retention, is time well spent, whereas rushing through things, without much retention, is wasted time. 🙂

Tip – Take your time in teaching lessons and don’t worry about not getting things done as fast as you’d like. Sometimes it takes longer than you planned, but in the end, it’llwork out and have fun!!!

My favorite homeschool tip would be: don’t stress. Easier said than done. AND there’s so much to stress over: curriculum choices, how to schedule subjects, should they dress for the day or is schooling in pajamas okay, and the list goes on. I am completing my third year homeschooling and it looks way different than the first year. I went from teaching in a public classroom to teaching at home and the two are vastly different. Unfortunately, I tried to homeschool the way I taught at school. Talk about stress! But I’ve learned over the years that whatever you choose to do is what is best for your children. And if something doesn’t work out, that’s okay. Just try something different. I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything. 🙂

Tip: Read books to your kids while they eat lunch. It’s a great way to maximize learning and the kids love it!

Another homeschooling tip: Don’t always assume you must spend a lot of money to homeschool. I have been homeschooling for three years, and this upcoming school year will be the first that I’ve invested in major curriculum ~ software from Switched on Schoolhouse. I have two daughters who are in high school and feel that they will benefit more from that than what I will continue doing with my sixth grader ~ utilizing the library and internet. 🙂

Well, I haven’t started yet but plan to this year. I think the most important tip I’ve heard is there is No way I can do it on my own. God has to be in the center of it all!

A third homeschool tip: Go on lots of field trips. My daughters and I love field trips. The science museum and planetarium and the children’s museum are some of our favorite places to visit. School work can be arranged around these visits. The time invested in them is immeasurable. My husband purchased yearly passes for us to use year round.

Tip #4. Be a mom who homeschools, not a homeschool “teacher”. As moms, we’ve already taught them so many important life skills. We did this as their mother first. I tried to be a teacher rather than a mother the first year I homeschooled. This did not sit well with my daughters. They view me as Moma, not their third grade teacher. Teach them with your mother’s instincts.
